Hey - it's Friday!

Well didn't this week just fly by!
Seriously though, where did this week go? I guess having two long weekends in a row makes time fly, but who's complaining?
Here's how my week went.
1. My husband threw me a surprise pre-birthday dinner get-together at Canyon Creek Chophouse. It was really nice to have dinner and get to chat with some friends; some who even came from out of town. We then had people back at the house for some cards. Overall, it was just a great night with friends.
Oh, and if I haven't said it before, you should check out Canyon Creek - they have the best steak around.
2. Michael Bublé. 
Honestly, I love him. Each time I see him, I end of loving him even more. He's funny, charming, he knows how to entertain, and of course, that voice of his. Me and some girlfriends went to see his concert in Toronto this past Saturday and it was such a fun girls night out.

3. My family headed up to our cottage on Sunday for a few days. We had some amazing family time playing outside, swimming, going to the beach, playing mini golf and so much more.

3. I turned 30 on Tuesday; and I feel fabulous!

4. My sister and I had a movie night last night. We went to see the Fault in our Stars. It was a great movie that probably hits home for a lot of people out there. Have your Kleenex ready.

Long Weekend Recap: Chicago Style

Hi everyone! This past weekend I took a road trip with my mom and brother to go and visit some relatives living in the Chicago area. It was actually a four day weekend for us and boy was it fun! We timed our trip perfectly because my relatives from England were also visiting! It was so good to see everyone.
Here's how our weekend went down!

Organizing Your Utensil Drawer

Thanks to Alejandra from Alenjandra.tv, I have discovered an awesome new way to organize my utensil drawer! I probably shouldn't be so happy about organizing utensils, but it has been fabulous not having to search for the items I need. It's all at my fingertips - literally.

The product is DrawerDecor by KMN Home and retails for about $29.99. I picked mine up at Solutions.

The DrawerDecor system is actually a relatively new product of theirs, only launched about a year ago. The kit itself contains a silicone base with small dividers that all work together to keep your utensils in place. Even as you open and close the drawer, they just wont budge. They are also very easy to clean with only a damp cloth.

They have a few colours to chose from, but as soon as I seen it in blue, I knew I had to have it given that it's my favourite colour.

One of the great things about this product is that you can cut the mat down to size to fit your drawer, which is what I had to do. And although you can absolutely fit more utensils in your drawer without this, you don't have to fight to get the drawer open or have to move several things around to get to what you need. Once I bought the DrawerDecor it actually made me realize that I had way too many utensils in my drawer, a lot of which I didn't use or that I barely used, so I was able to purge a lot of the items.

I really can't believe the difference. It just looks so pretty that I could almost stare at it all day. I just love the pop of blue.

I would really recommend this product to anyone. If you happen to pick it up or are currently using it, let me know what you think.

DIY Fabric Covered Cork Board

My husband and I completely finished our basement at the beginning of the year and it is fabulous! One thing we were really excited about is finally having an awesome space where we can both be creative, work, have fun and play the occasional computer game. 

We currently share an office and if you can believe it, we haven't hurt each other yet! Actually sharing your office space with your husband isn't as bad as I thought it would be and it has really allowed us to spend more time together. My side is prettier though :)

Which brings me to my DIY fabric coloured cork board. I really wanted a place to hang up some of my sons art, some important items and a few other things. I also wanted something that looked appealing and that I could dress up a bit if I wanted to - and I did. 

This is what I came up with.

It's actually pretty easy to do and you don't really need a lot of supplies.

For this project, you will need:

• Cork Board. Mine is fairly big at 23"H x 35"W.
• Fabric, about 3 inches larger than the size of your cork board.
• Stapler
• Embellishments
• Hot Glue Gun (optional)

You can finish this project with just a few easy steps.

1. Lay out your fabric right side down and position your cork board on top so that the extra fabric is equal all around, with the cork side down.
   
2. Fold the fabric over to the back on the cork board and staple down as you fold the fabric over. Use as many staples as you need to use to get the fabric to stay in place. If you need a little extra staying power, use the hot glue gun with the staples; just be sure everything is done on the back of the cork board so the front stays nice and clean.
   
3. Once your finish stapling, gently turn the board over and add your embellishments.
   
4. Hang your cork board and enjoy!
